FLORIDA TRIP
Today was a great day for the HHS Boys Golf Team in Florida! The team moved from a tie for 6th place to a solo 3rd place finish with an outstanding team score of 293 (+5) in the final round of the 2015 Honda HS Classic. Once again the team was led by junior Mason Anderson who fired another sub-par round (71) to finish the two rounds in a tie for 1st individually at -5 (68-71=139) with Carson Lundell from Lone Peak HS (Utah). The two payers went to a playoff on #10 on the Champions Course. Mason lipped out his birdie try and Carson made an impressive birdie out of a bunker on the par 5 to get the win. The team was supported by many other excellent performances:
Nic Beno (75-75=150) 11th place
Trueman Park (80-72=152) 19th place
Zane Smith (82-75=157) 40th place
The Champions Course at PGA National is very challenging and known for its length, tough approach shots and windy conditions not to mention the humidity which was stifling. The field was very strong with, what I was told included the best teams from the state of Florida, and also our interstate rival Brophy Prep.
All six boys and coaches had a great trip and a wonderful learning experience. On behalf of everyone thanks to all team members and parents who made this trip possible! There are pictures posted on the team facebook page.
